Sticking To Britain This Holiday?
There are many British people this year that are being forced to change their plans for a holiday this year as the downturn continues to strip the world of money and good times. The British pound has taken a huge fall over the past year or so meaning that the huge family trip to America or the small week break to Spain may have to wait until next year. Is the recession really to blame for all the British taking their holidays in Britain this year or is it simply down to the year.
The worst thing about the pound is that it is not only suffering against the Euro heavily this year but also the dollar although this has started to pick up again it really won’t make a difference until the world comes out of the recession and slowly starts to build up to the way it was. Of course what everyone needs when going either to Europe or the USA or in fact anywhere is travel insurance and this is equally as important even when holidaying in Britain.
Although a huge benefit on holidaying in Britain is that you will not need to take out medical insurance as obviously you are already covered anywhere in the UK under the NHS. Of course this is all fine until something goes wrong like having to cancel on short notice which in turn means at least having to lose any booking fees paid although likely to result in a loss a lot worse than this.
Why is insurance even worth the cash? Well insurance here in the UK is generally a lot cheaper than insurance you would have to pay for going abroad. Insurance often protects you against more than just having to cancel the trip. Many travel insurance policies available will actually protect you from loss of personal items which is necessary as the problem does just not go away simply because you are sticking to the UK. Be careful that your home insurance doesn’t already cover you from loss of possessions away from home though or you will be paying for the same thing twice.
So whether it’s Spain, Mexico, (or not) USA or Britain having insurance is bound to benefit you if something that is not in the plan crops up.
